Conspiracy theories surely will abound, as U.S. athletes are free to wear any suit they like, and Australian swimmers also reportedly have been unable to get their hands on the Hydrofoils. An adidas marketing agent told the Australian team the company would be unable to provide a supply of the new suits until three days before the world championships, The Age in Australia reported this week.

The German-based adidas did not submit an application by Wednesday’s deadline to have its suits available at the event, which serves as the trials for the world championships at the end of this month, a USA Swimming spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

We’ve already given you numerous looks at the Black/Green Spark and Metallic Silver/Black versions, and now the all Black edition will soon be hitting stores. The shoe features a slick Black on Black look with minimal Metallic Silver accents to spice things up a bit. These are not scheduled to drop until next month, they have already popped up on eBay for pre-order with an expected arrival of early August at the latest. French fashion house Lanvin throws another offering into the pool of designer sneakers, revisiting the use of metallic colors for their latest high-top sneaker. Featuring a metallic blue toe cap and heel panel, the model is offset by an otherwise earthy color scheme of browns and blacks.  

Within the last four years, the most critical issue facing adidas is its effort to turn around Reebok. The company bought Reebok for $3.8 billion in 2006, a move criticized by many analysts as being too expensive. The company is working to change customers’ perception Reebok from that of a discount shoe brand to a premium brand. As part of these efforts, the company has switched the Reebok wholesale model from bulk pre-order to pay as you go. Wholesale customers like Footlocker now order Reebok shoes as they need them rather than ordering them in bulk. This makes it less likely that larger retailers will discount Reebok shoes in order to clear their inventories.

Adidas Group, the parent company of adidas, Reebok and TaylorMade Golf, is the world’s second largest maker of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment by sales (2009) after Nike (NKE). [1] Although the company makes most of its money by selling at wholesale rates to large retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) , Foot Locker (FL) , and Sports Authority, adidas and Reebok have sought to increase profit margins by increasing retail sales as a percentage of total sales. In 2008, the company’s own retail sales accounted for 18% of adidas’s revenues, up from 17% in 2007. [2]

During his Hall of Fame induction speech, Michael Jordan said his children carry a “heavy burden” and that he’d never want to switch places with them.

“We don’t sponsor the U.S. swimming federation,” Murphy said by phone from the company’s office in Herzogenaurach, Germany. “They are sponsored by one of our rivals. That’s the reason” we are not attending.

Aside from the trade show going on at Outerspace in Barcelona right now, the main event has to be the incredible Sneaker Expo Exhibition that is on display at the event. For as far as the eye can see, there are rows of wooden crates with glass windows that reveal a collection of some of the most incredible rare and vintage sneakers ever seen all in one place. Some of the kicks on display date back over 20 years and many are still complete with their original boxes and packaging. As you might expect, Nike kicks dominate the show with both OG classics and newer offerings like some beloved Nike SB models. Aside from Nike, many other brands are represented with some vintage throwbacks from Adidas, Reebok, Converse, New Balance, Asics and more, as well as some old-school skate models from Vans and Airwalk. A source tells BHSN’s David Baumann that despite the school’s deal with Adidas, Jordan will wear Nike’s Air Jordan shoes in Wednesday night’s exhibition game against Saint Leo.

Today has most definitely been an especially good day for the females with respect to sneaker news. Just earlier we brought you a glimpse of the Nike Dunk High 6.0 “Purple Blueprint,” and it seems as though some inspiration has been drawn from it to the tune of this Women’s Nike Blazer High “Grand Purple.” With an array of colors put together along the upper that includes shades of purple, plum, red, and even green, This Kennedy comes in a navy canvas upper with tan contrast stitching and red logo embroidery on the tongue. A white vulcanized midsole goes well with this dark upper, along with a nice touch of blue plaid print for the inner lining. These shoes will be limited to 100 pairs and available at Stussy LA at the end of October.

Truly respectful of the culture! I hope it comes to the U.S.!

This newest Admiral looks a whole lot like DC’s duet with Atlanta’s Standard.? Almost too much.? In fact, the only difference we can see is that the Standard joints used hunter green laces to mimic the turf on their new Lenox Square store’s astroturf floor.? It’s also possible that these are a deeper red than the Standard version, but that depends alot on the lighting.?
